Gear Review

Solid, Lightweight, Easy to set up every night.

I traded in a MEC Wanderer 2, for this tent, 2 weeks into a cycling trip across Canada. I love so many things about this tent. It's incredibly light, weighing in the 3-4lb category. It was very easy to pack up and set up every single night and morning. I like the single pole set up better, for setting the tent up without help. I was a little weary about the canopy being completely mesh and it still being able to perform as a 3 season tent, but those worries were soon squashed. We even downgraded to zero degree sleeping bags and were cozy when the temperature dropped as low as -7 in Kenora, Ontario. The tent is a little smaller then the Wanderer, but still plenty roomy (the Wanderer was actually unusually large for a 2 person tent). The fly is a very unique design which performed well under extreme winds (50-60km/hr) and over 16 hours of continuous rain. I also really like the colour of the tent. When you have to stealth camp, and you don't want your tent to be seen, it can be hard with some of the tents out there. This one is not overdone with reflective ribbing to look like a spaceship whenever light hits it in the dark. It also helps that the fly is a subtle dark green. Overall, I am extremely happy with this tent. It performs very well in the elements at a competitive weight.

Hi Thomas

I read some comments about the above tent from others on how they have great problems with the fly touching the screenand thus causing leakage. We are planning to bike for 3 weeks in Europe this summer where the weather is not always good. Would you advise me to purchase this tent? Thanks
