Quality buckle, sub-par material
I wanted a really strong buckle collar for my dog who broke the plastic buckle on the Ruffwear Hoopie collar after 8 months of use. The metal buckle is great--it's almost seatbelt like--very sturdy. I like that the leash attachment ring is adjustable as well, though the idea that the buckle is weighted in such a way as to keep the ring pointed upward (given it's positioned directly across from the buckle) when walking is exaggerated. The biggest problem, however, with this collar is that when my dog scratches her neck, the force of her nails frays the material of the collar, despite the fact that I keep her nails trimmed and ground smooth. The fraying isn't as bad as users, including myself, experience with Ruffwear's Doubleback collar, but I don't expect this collar to last a full year. For the price, I expected better quality material.
