Perfect hiking pant
Great pants, nothing bad to report -
I bought a grey pair of Rampart pants a few years ago that are still holding up very well. Just picked up a brown pair, which is improved by the "thigh drop-in pocket" which I slide my trail map in and out of.
I use these primarily as a hiking pant and they are perfect. Typically even on sunny, blazing hot days I wear a thin pair of pants (Rampart) and a long sleeve shirt to avoid using sunscreen and to protect against trail brush. These pants allow for good freedom of movement and have a wide comfort range of temperature (50 - 100 degrees Fahrenheit).
These have also been great travel pants because they are light, pack small and spills/spots are easy to remove on the go.
What I like about these pants:
- nice straight leg cut that is not baggy, but allows freedom of movement
- very light weight, but durable
- synthetic material dries quickly, breathes and is easy to clean
- packs small
- good colors
- cargo pockets are not bulky
