Gear Review

3 5

Not sure its worth the $$

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The Rock 32 footprint is light weight and compact. However, it doesn't cover the vestibules. If you're concerned about size and weight, use it. If size and weight aren't a concern I'd say use a tarp large enough to cover the vestibule floors.

A tent's vestibule area is often used for cooking with backpacking stoves--the tent flap open--during inclimate weather. In doing this the last thing you want under the stove is plastic. If you're concerned about gear storage, buy a tent to accommodate the space you need or bring a piece of tyvek.
