I tried to like this camera. I'm a bit of a tech junkie. And, I was eagerly anticipating its release. I took it out snowboarding on Vail Mountain. The camera "froze up" several times. When this happens, you have to remove your helmet, remove the camera, open the waterproof container, and remove the battery. Very frustrating. The operating system is horribly clunky, and time consuming to use. The GoPro App completely drains the battery of the camera quickly and is essentially useless. I think it is the wifi in the camera that is a terrible drain on the battery. The photos and video I was able to take were nice; but, not worth the headache. I'm taking my camera back for a refund.

Nice that you copied your review from REI and put it here for us too.

I think the Wifi has to be part of the issue with the battery. But, that's the price you pay to have a camera that can beam video to your smartphone. Personally, I like using the wifi remote and extra batteries are easy to obtain. I'm sure recording when it's 20 degrees outside also affects things as well.

Hey Stephen,
GoPro specifically markets the product to skiers and snowboarders. GoPro is the lead sponsor of the Vail Mountain Games. So, I think it should work when it is 20 degrees out, even colder. It is useless if it doesn't. I appreciate your comments but I'm also not interested in changing batteries on a camera in the woods on a powder day. I personally think it is clunky and has a long way to go.
