Not perfect, but very comfortable

I'm keeping this pack simply because it fits so well. I'm not a fan of the compartment layout - I liked the Black Diamond Pulse better, but it didn't fit at all. I wish the Sirrus had that outer stash pocket on the back, and bigger water bottle pockets on the side. Stuff in the top small pocket gets caught up when you try to put a hydration reservoir into the sleeve. I bought this pack for longer day hikes, and now I use it even on short ones because it rides so well. The mesh back panel keeps me from getting too sweaty, and the weight balances nicely. Ultimately, comfort is what matters, and this pack is very comfortable. I am 5' tall, 113 lbs, and I got the small.
Four months later and the organizational layout finally irritated me enough to return the pack (thanks to backcountry.com's generous return policy!). The buckles to get into the main compartment were hard to operate with mittened or cold hands, and I prefer more organizational options.
I found (here) the Mtn Hardwear Wandra (another mesh-backed women's pack with a raincover) that has better access to the main compartment, more external pockets, and that lovely stash pocket on the back. It also has a system for carrying trekking poles across that back that is an improvement on the under-arm thing the Sirrus has going. I look forward to using this pack on my upcoming trip to NZ!
