The "Cold Shoulder"...
- Gender: Female
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs small
Been wanting to review this jacket for sometime now, and since it's really crummy weather-wise today (in fact, so cold out I had to wear this, and so was moved to write my experience with this item). I found that unless you are doing a very highly aerobic activity to create lots of heat, I'm am still cold when using for casual walks with a sweater & base layer underneath in just coolish' temps. Seems the fill from shoulder area always 'falls, or sinks downward, where there is just fabric and no fill on top of your shoulders; and I end up having to try to shake coat upside down to try to get fill back in place. Melted snow only slightly beaded up on outer shell (the North Face site listed this coat as "water resistant" only).
This coat was a gift, so I am grateful...but I wouldn't purchase it after having worn it this past winter.
My biggest gripe is the zipper...just trying to get it started is a big pain in the @#! the thing just is a pain to get it lined-up.
My friend got a Patagonia Primo Down and absolutely loves it. Totally warm; down stays in place; awesome hood; nice length (as the helicity is somewhat short on me). It has ALL the technical features you would want, plus it is WATERPROOF & Windproof. No fussy zipper, either. Who has time! So, after having some real time to wear this coat this past winter (and even this spring in our area!), I am somewhat disappointed; but grateful, since my old coat was beyond worn out! I'll use this for not-so-bad weather days...
Guess what coat I'm purchasing this coming winter season!
Patagonia Ladies' "Primo Down", of course!
