The pack hasn't changed much besides the color for the Seth Plaid Orange. Main change is the ski mount. Now it is more offset, left to right for diagonal ski position. Last years pack was vertical. This allows your tails to not bang the back of your legs. Great pack for side country and light backcountry day skiing. Small external pocket with car key hook to help keep them secure. Hydration compatible. Sleeves inside for probe and shovel handle organization. Also a full length pocket that ski loop on bottom tucks into. There is a small buckle for the ski loop that allows you to adjust to you ski tail width. I recommend using the Black Diamond Deploy or Transfer shovels, they fit best in the pack upside down. Fits the essentials plain and simple.

I have a pair of 2009 obsethed skis that I absolutly love, how well would the ski carry work with them and how does the ski carry work(is it a cable system or straps only)?

It carries them just fine. It is a strap only system on the tail, has an adjustable buckle on the inside of the bottom of the pack.

Great pack, but the fabric loop attaching the car key hook on the inside of the small pocket snagged on the zipper. I had to cut a hole on the inside of the pack to get my stuff out of the little exterior pocket. Zip is now jammed shut, making the ext. pocket useless. Thinking of returning it cus I could use that little pocket. If I do, 1st thing I do is cut that silly hook out. Love the pack otherwise, good size, nice features, 'cept that car key hook thingy was a bad idea if you ask me. Dave
