Some children have "safety blankets", I have the DAS Parka. From spending months on backcountry trips in Patagonia in the pouring just-above-freezing sleet and rain, to emergency bivvying in the high alpine, to ski-touring in sub-zero temperatures, to climbing in icy, whipping wind, to sitting around the fire at camp, and snuggling in my creaky, old, poorly insulated house, this jacket-come-sleeping bag has been my constant, unwavering companion. If I had to own one piece of clothing, this would be it. The synthetic insulation keeps you warm in damp conditions, and regulates heat well. Certainly not the most lightweight jacket, but still my go-to. The large hood fits over a helmet, and the oversized inner pockets are perfect for stashing gloves, hot nalgene bottles, headlamps, snacks, etc etc.
I am 5'10, and bought the XS. Fits beautifully!
