More comfortable then I had expected.
I wore my Marmot/Scree Softshell pants the day they arrived for a hike/snowshoe in a snow storm. The stretch made them super comfortable and the wind resistant material kept the wind from chilling my legs. Due to the deep snow I wore a pair of Truk boots and the pants fit over the boots with the zipper mostly zipped. The softshell material kept the snow from my snow shoes from sticking to the backs of my legs so that was a real plus. I didn't overheat hiking up the mountain and stayed warm descending into the wind while snow shoeing. I have also been running in them. One day the wind came up and my hands got really cold. The soft liner in the pockets warmed my hands up so I could put my gloves back on with toasty fingers. I run in fivefinger shoes and was worried about the pant leg (my legs are short) going under the shoe, but there is elastic inside the hem that you can tighten with a toggle so stepping on the pant hem was never an issue. So far I have only needed merino wool boy shorts as a base layer but if it gets colder my Smartwool tights will fit as a base layer to add some warmth.
