I've been a big fan of Salomon trail shoes for a number of years, so when I was needing a boot, and these were on sale, I did't hesitate.
Fit was fine right out of the box for me. Within a couple days of getting the boot I spent 10 days or so in the mountains of SE Utah with a few miles of side trips to Canyonland. Both on mountain trails and desert slick rock the boots were comfortable, lightweight and seemed to have good grippy soles.
I was also surprised that they weren't to hot for the desert hiking, that was one thing I was worried about.
I didn't run in to any wet trails or rock so I can't comment on the waterproof-ness nor the ability to grip on wet, slick rock.
Assuming these hold up a reasonable amount of time/miles, I would definitely recommend these boots.
