Look elsewhere for quality

My husband and I both have Mountain Hardwar gear and in general have been pleased with their quality. This coat was purchased to replace the older model from several years ago and when we opened the package we were very disappointed by the quality. The material is much thinner and flimsier, the lining was very cheap, and the cut of the jacket was altered to account for a larger waist. When we contacted Mountain Hardware via e-mail to discuss quality, we were very surprised by their reply. They admitted that the quality of their products has declined in recent years and didn't offer a solution. Thanks to Backcountry's awesome return policy, we sent it back. We'll now be looking for a new jacket by Marmot or Patagonia as their quality hasn't recently tanked. If you're an avid outdoors-person, don't look to Mountain Hardware for quality outdoor gear.

pie. Thanks for your review and comments but working for Mountain Hardwear for the passed 11 years I have to respectfully disagree. I have watched our quality do nothing but improve in the years I have worked with the brand and whoever you discussed this with within the company is woefully uninformed. I would put our products up against anyone in the industry from a quality and innovation stand-point any day of the week and this is one of the main reasons I work for this brand. I own several MH jackets and clothing products and have yet to have an issue, but I'm keeping your contact info Mr. Webb just in case. Keep up the good work.

i have a hard time believing that a company representative would "admit" that the quality of their company's garments has declined.
