Crampon proof might me a stretch, but they are extremely tough. I've been ice climbing with mine for three seasons without any rips or tears. They fit nicely over my La Sportiva's but I did have to go up in size to extra large. Snow, ice, and water are no match for these bad-boys. A great pair of gaiters for all winter activities, I highly reccommend them....!!!
