I've been wearing Keen shoes for several yrs now - always with a perfect fit in size 9. So when it came time for new hiking boots I chose the mid-Targhee, but they were too tight - no matter what type of sock I had on. I talked with Keen directly & was told the Targhee runs small & to order 1/2 larger. That was better in the mid-Targhee but after few weeks something started rubbing against my skinny ankle bones. So I tried this style in 9.5 & it was way too big, heel slipped around, toes slid forward.
For the type of foot I have - long & skinny with a high arch, a gear specialists at Backcountry suggested I try a pair of trail running shoes even though I don't run. He suggested 4 different brands other than Keen to try since they usually have a tighter heel fit, high arch but still room in toe box. So I'm waiting for my next order to arrive.
Kinda say I really like dealing with Backcountry - never a hassle & always great service.
