Scooped this up as one of my numerous off-season deals. I liked the minimalist approach to the "pack" considering that most of them nowadays seem built to carry more books than water! I've been using it this winter for snowshoeing, the insulation of the pack keeps the water from freezing as long as I fill it with hot water from the tap and keeping the hose tucked under my arm (along the strap) generally prevents the nipple from freezing. The small compartment is perfect for holding a headlamp, 2 clif bars, matches, 2 hand warmers, and a pocket knife. (Believe me, I didn't think it would all fit either) and the bungees actually do a good job of holding my trekking poles when the terrain is even. I also like this pack since it is so basic that I don't feel guilty taking the bladder out of it to use in either of my Osprey packs for camping or climbing.
