If god ice climbed . . .

The Petzl Nomic is a fantastic ice tool for technical vertical ice or mixed routes. Well balanced, with removable pick weights to accommodate your specific taste, this tool has a phenominal swing. It is an aggressive tool that requires practice, though it performs exceptionally well on vertical ice. On lower angle ice, it can be difficult to get direct purchase, but it's not what this tool was designed for. The 2012 models have the benefit of a serrated pommel, which makes it possible to use it in piolet canne position on alpine climbs. Also, this tool is more versatile with ability to add an adze or hammer, unfortunately the adze and hammer are way overkill and throw off the swing of this tool completely. Try the mini-hammer at half the weight (30g) for use with pitons.
