I wanted to love it
The title says it all. I really wanted to love this jacket, and at first I really did like it, but then I started to realize I really didn't. First of all, for any of you guys that have reviewed saying too roomy or too baggy, use some common sense and size down. The jacket fits fine. Since Arcteryx started mass merchandizing (around 2008 they blew up commercially) their sizing turned really wacky. From then on smalls became mediums; Mediums became large and larges became XL. This is a pretty common fact so don't say that is a flaw it is just their sizing has changed and you need to just size down. Now for this jacket, I really liked the materials top notch, lite, packable, slightly insulated with reflective heat, wind resistant and above all active fit. What I did not like about this jacket is no stretch, just doesn't have it. The reason I got two was I returned one because the zipper kept coming down unless I had it all the way to the top which I don't like to do all of the time unless I need to (and the neck was a little tight especially with layers). Now if I was just hanging out and relaxing this was not a problem but on the trail running it was down right annoying. So I returned it and the same issue. So I realized this jacket just was not going to work for me. So I cut my loses. Sizing; I am 5'10" 165. I have a 41-42 inch chest depending ont the season and a 19-20 inch long torso. This jacket fit me perfectly in the small. I will admit it was a little tighter than I normally wear, but it really did not feel tight when moving and that is all that matters. I hope this helps some of you out.
