Great pad!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Always been plagued by poor sleep in the backcountry, but this pad has pretty much eliminated that problem. It does have a bit of noise, but the much quieter sleep, whether I'm on my back or side, sidelines that to a large degree. I like the BA bag/pad system a lot, mummys don't treat me well, and the ability of this thing to soak up both body and terrain contour is pretty impressive. The prominent and well designed air valve extends through a sewn exit hole in the BA bags making it easy to inflate/deflate the pad to your liking (chances are, you'll wind up with less air in the pad than you expect to). No, it's not a featherweight, but on anything like rough ground it makes all the difference. Last summer my partners and I got a later start to a multiday hike than we planned, and wound up going late to make up time, also pitching camp in a less than desirable spot in the dark. I tossed my area pretty well before setting up, we ate and chatted and turned in for an early start. Taking down the next morning, I discovered a partially buried tennis ball sized rock right under where I had a surprisingly good night's sleep. Footprint, tent, pad and bag were fine. How can you not be a little impressed with that? I look forward to a long and comfy relationship with this purchase~

Great pad!
