Great for the price!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This jacket is perfect for the budget minded climber. What I mean by this, is that you can throw this on before leading an offwidth at Vedauwoo and not be worrying the whole time about blowing a hole in your $500 rainshell. This jacket goes everywhere with me, it is always in my bag. On alpine climbs, this is the shell that goes over my capilene 3 top in the morning to give a little extra warmth. I take this on long mountain biking trips, long hikes, day cruises, and free solos. There is not a time or place that you will catch me without this jacket. Nitpicks: This is not the most breathable jacket. The pit zips are nice, but if you close them, expect to sweat. This is also not the lightest shell out there. If you have the money and are a super minimalist climber, go buy the patagonia M10 jacket. Last nitpick: the fit is not as slim as I like. I never really layer this over much, so I like my shells to be slim. However, this would be an excellent choice as a shell over a small down jacket for some winter ice climbing. Great product! Marmot really has their stuff together.
