Great Shoe but possible durability issue

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These things are an amazing step up from the Sportiva Xplorer. I am still recovering from very bad blisters due to the Xplorers, but these are still comfortable. I put 4 miles on them two days in with heavy rock climbing gear and a lot of elevation change and they performed flawlessly. If they hold up like my Alp Trainers, they've got to be the best things out there. See Evan's comments regarding rubber for climbing and approach.

2.5 months in - Unfortunately, these are going to get returned. I wore a hole in the back of the shoe through the liner and slight padding all the way to the support in the back right heel. I did this in just over two months. All my other Salewa's have held up great so I'm going to try the Wildfire to see if it holds up better.

Did you find these shoes to be true to size? Did you size up a half size or a full size? I wear 9.5, so I sized up to 10 on my Alp Trainers, and they are working great. Thoughts?

I bought these true to size. The Alp Trainers have a slightly roomier fit and these are a little more snug, but appropriately so for an approach shoe. I wear a 9 and bought these in a 9.
