- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I'm new to the backpacking game, but the Terra 65 seems to have been an excellent choice for my first backpack. Used on two trips and I have been impressed with the durability and fit. I'm 6'4"/240 and the M/L fits well enough to get the job done and hasn't caused me any problems thus far. Aesthetically, it's a good looking, clean pack that I feel comfortable taking on even a weekend vacation.
As you can read here and elsewhere, yes, the sleeping bag compartment is smaller than you'd probably guess. Being new, I have a larger synthetic bag (MH Pinole 20) that kinda/sorta/barely fits without a compression bag. And yeah, there aren't a whole lot of pockets either so if you're obsessed with storage compartments and such, this may not be the bag for you. Personally, I'm good with a few stuff sacks and zip lock baggies as the external pocket down the center of the back expands well and can hold a decent amount of miscellaneous gear. Last gripe - no rain cover included, but I knew that before I purchased and carry a large garbage bag for now.
Overall, I love it. Practical, simple, clean bag with a good warranty that does what it's supposed to do.
