Great Glove; would recommend it
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I'm a beginning Ice Climber and just spent 2 days on waterfall ice learning the skilz. These were my goto gloves for the ascent. They seemed to function just fine, grip was excellent dry or wet, but my hands sweat a little bit in them and didn't breath like I thought they would. It was around 18-30degF in Ouray, CO at the time. I really like the gauntlet and the "pull-tabs" built into the wrist made donning the gloves very quick for under cuff wear. The velcro wrist closure was adequate as well. I would have liked to compare these (on the ice) to OR Alibi II, because the Alibis felt slightly better in the store, but were quite a bit more expensive. Oh, the Hydra's seemed to provide decent protection from banging the backside of my hands up on the ice. I did wear a pair of super-thin liners on a couple of laps and although the "squeeze" was a little less tiring with the thin glove, I noticed my hands got banged up a tiny bit more. Of course, I'm a novice...but that didn't have anything to do with it, right?
