Gnar Boot (non-tech version)

*I would like to say that I similarly am dissapointed with Salomon's handling of the tech-soles/injuries from them last year, but wanted to comment on my experience with the non-tech version of the boot*
I picked up one of the limited release non-tech boots last spring (before injuries and recalls) after falling in love with it at SIA's on-snow demo days and haven't looked back. The boot has the strength to command any fat ski down any mountain, but the comfort necessary for big-tours. I was previously riding in Black Diamond Factors and felt that the Salomon Quest 12 was an excellent alternative to the stiffness/responsiveness of those hardcore boots, but at a better price and better fit (for touring). So far, I have logged ~50 days of skinning/hiking/bootpacking (depending on season/line) in these boots and have yet to have a single issue. The materials all seem durable and the flex has stayed consistent. I now ride these boots with Rossignol S7s (188cm) and they happily handle the ski through any condition or terrain. I would highly recommend this boot to anyone who is "all about the down" but is not afraid of large days in the backcountry.
The only possible complaint I have is that the "walk" mode is not very noticeable except for on the longest of skins.
