Doesn't whisper, not lite... but...
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Love this stove. I've been using it since I read Mark Twight's book "Extreme Alpinism". I agree with him in that a canister stove does not compare at altitude or in cold weather. After fussing with my MSR Pocket rocket above treeline, and running out of fuel more times than I can count, I now take this stove everywhere I go (with the exception of light and fast summer trips). For climbing, if I strip down my GSI microdualist to just the pot, I can fit this stove inside of it. I use the 11 oz fuel bottle which will last me for several days to a week. For high mountain bivies, this stove cannot be beat! Of course, it is more bulky and a bit more heavy (though you save weight because each ounce of fuel goes further). It also does not "whisper", however, compared to it's bigger cousins it certainly does.
