I have other gaiters that are cheaper and was not a gaiter fan until I decided to purchase these to use while doing trailwork.My others would not stay up and the strings under the feet seemed to come untied regardless of the methods I tried.First I like that these stand up without even having to buckle the upper strap which allows for needed ventilation during hot humid conditions plus the straps under the foot can't come lose.Great for hiking in snow and dirt has no chance getting through and I prefer no raingear unless weather is to cool to go without so I use these to keep the rain out of my boots and add warmth when needed
