I have been using these stoves for 15 years. They are not as user-friendly as canister-type stoves but once you learn their quirks they are really great. The fuel is much cheaper than buying canisters also. I have completely submerged the stove and the pump and was still able to light it with out any problem. They do not have a variable flame setting so it is either full afterburner or off so they probably are not the most suitable for cooking but they are fantastic for boiling water. Be sure to use it a few times at home as practice so you will be familiar with it when you really need it.
