Arc'teryx Gamma SK women's
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I bought these to replace a pair of Patagonia Alpine Guide pants for backcountry skiing in the PNW. Like most Arc'teryx products I am impressed with the initial fit, waist is snug (in a good way) but the hips and thighs offer plenty of room for movement without feeling baggy.
I see the backcountry.com lists the Gamma SK as having removable suspenders, however my 2012/2013 Gamma SK in Raku does not. I was a little disappointed the women's does not have suspenders like the Men's Gamma SK. I worry that they will sag while wearing a pack. I agree with other reviews that the pant seems long and the knee gathers don't hit me quite right. For resort or sidecountry this wouldn't worry me, but for those who fiddle with buckles skiing yo-yo laps too long pants aren't always great.
With that said, Arc'teryx makes stellar products which tend to exceed my expectations (don't get me started on drop seat on their bibs.... love!) so we'll see!
