we don't get montrail in australia so i can't try them on.
I really like the look of these shoes and they seem good, but could anyone tell me if they would suit a narrow foot with a flat arch (extreme over pronater)? or could anyone suggest another trail runner to suit?
I'm a mid distance runner on fire trails to very rugged.
This shoe tends to run a bit small, almost half a size small. It has a medium arch height, and it is fairly supportive. I'm assuming that mid distance for trails is 6-12 mile runs, and for that, this shoe should be plenty for what you have described. I hope that helps!
Kat. The Mountian Masochist will fit a narrow foot well. However, if you have a flat arch and are an "extreme over pronator" I would consider the Montrail Fairhaven rather than the Mountain Masochist. This is because the Mountain Masochist has a small post on the medial side of the foot which I call a fatigue post that is nice for stability but not designed to help alignment for an extreme over pronator. The Fairhaven has a much more robust post called a "Fluid Post" which is new to Montrail and is getting great reviews. The shoe has a great fit and are meant as a hybrid shoe for running both on and off the pavement. I hope this info helps!
