isn't this prettymuch the same thing as the BC Merino baselayer?

Responded on

Yeah it's pretty close. BC owns Stoic and have essentially the same people designing for Stoic.

this stoic bliss is a 17.5 micron which is softer hand, and even more comfortable, than the backcountry bliss of 18.8 micron. this material is the softest available, softer than smartwool, icebreaker. hell, its even softer than organic cotton!

The shirts are pretty similar, but the Stoic version is better in most ways. The collar is tighter, so you get less wind down the neck ( if you bike, row, or move quickly, this is a big deal ); also, the collar looks better folded down. The thumb holes are bigger, so you don't pull at the threading. The Stoic shirt is thinner, and a bit stretchier. But the easiest thing to notice is that it's softer.
