i know you access the photo block through the back but ive seen saw a video where after you take the photo block out, you can access the main compartment through the front.. is this available on all dakine mission photo backpacks? i really want to use this backpack for school on the days that im not using my camera.

You could use it for school just fine. With the block out it functions as a normal backpack with access to the main compartment through the front of the pack.
