What's the difference in support between these CW-X ventilator tights and the other CW-X tights OR SHORTS? (negligible?)

I'm thinking of wearing these year-round: summer(b/c I'm GUESSING the shorts do not provide as much support (calves?) + winter (with running pants over)).

Would it make more sense to purchase the CW-X shorts (for summer)AND wear compression socks, then buy warmer cw-x tights for the winter (instead of trying to get a universal product?)

I try to run inside in the winter and outside, b/4 sunup, in the summer (50-80 degF) so temperature isn't really a factor here that I'm aware of.
