I ski in the east coast and am looking for an adjustable pole for the back country. As you know, it's cold as anything in the Whites of N.H. Is there a pole that you would recommend? Does cold affect the locking mechanism on the pole, and if so, is there one that is better?
You can't go wrong with any of the Black Diamond poles. The Flicklock mechanism has held up really well with no slips or breakage.
flick lock is solid. i used them last season in northern vermont (mostly Jay)
I snap these things constantly, just beware that the lower shaft has its breaking point and its closer than you think.
