orange lenses are preferred for the low light conditions and low visibility overcast days, they are also sufficient for the sunny days although a mirrored darker lens will block more light and will be more comfortable but an orange lens is definitely a choice if you're gonna buy only one lens

These should work well in low to moderate light. In really bright light I prefer a darker shade but I have really sensitive eyes so for most people they should be fine.
