How well does this harness perform in the gym? It's mainly what I'll be doing with it and I'm not sure whether this one gives a comfortable fit. Any advice or thoughts?

Since you Wont be hanging for long amounts of time any harness will do just fine. Black Diamond is a very good choice for the price as well.
