Yes, the triple C jacket is a popular choice for guys who want a long down jacket. I have a very similar version myself. It is warm, and simply looks like a puffy trench-coat. It looks great and even cool on a guy. I can't answer for the Metropolis, but when I discovered the Triple C, I do remember the Metropolis name come up a few times as well as a good long down jacket for guys. As for sizing I would go a size up from whatever mens size your husband wears. I wear medium mens usually and womens L fits me fine. I am tall and slender though. Perhaps ask Back Country for the exact measurements of the jacket you choose to be sure!
