Great light but how do I change batteries. Came as a gift with no instructions.

Hey Bruce,
Extend the light out, grab the exposed shaft, turn the base with the feet counter-clockwise. Nice gift, but you should check out the NRG-2 rechargeable battery pack so you can just plug in and never need to open it again. The whole system together is a regular part of my gear that I'm sure you'll appreciate too.
The item number for the battery pack is BLD 0415
