i really love the strap on this chalk bag, and it also can be removed.

The strap can be removed? As in, without cutting it?

I have tried and tried... Please wizard, show us how

a little cutting is required, but since the strap is so long, i've never see it as a problem. do it this way, and the strap can be on or off whenever you want, and you have almost the same amount of belt adjustment.

1) take the adjustable end of the strap.
2) cut off the last inch or so, just before where it is looped back and sewn. make sure you're cutting the adjustable end only.
2a) (it might be possible to use a heated blade for cutting, which may seal it in a lower profile.)
3) seal the end with a lighter. do this quickly and lightly, so the end doesn't melt too wide. you want to keep it a low profile as possible or it will be more difficult to pass through the plastic.
4) you can pull the strap free. again, if you kept the sealed end from getting too thick, it will go in and out fairly easily.
5) if not having the end rolled back is a concern for you, just tie a knot on that end when you need it.
