Hunger is the best spice

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

As with all of the Mountain House offerings, they are pretty satisfying after a long day of backpacking, riding or climbing. Would you be as satisfied eating one of these after a long day holding down the cubicle? Doubtful. Get out there in the wilds, burn some calories and reward yourself with a very easy to prepare meal that tastes good while you're gazing at an alpine lake.
Pro tip- After you've added boiling water, place the pouch in your beanie for insulation and stir very well. Pay special attention to the directions for preparation at altitude.

PHENOMENAL!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is tasty enough to eat around the house! Two of us were chomping at the bit for the last bites! So very tastey, creamy, delicious bits of mushroom. Some of the meat hadn't had time to soak up the water yet, so it had a few funky spots, but likely our fault for not stirring well enough, not adding in the full amount of water it asked for, and not letting it sit long enough.
SO VERY GOOD! I will be purchasing more!

Delicious!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great lightweight food for my long hiking trips. I'm sold on freeze dried food on long hikes or food storage. Very tasty, lightweight, and filling.

Pro Tip: Don't turn your zip-locked bag upside down to help mix the water and food. The zip-lock feature is not very strong and you will most likely dump your food all over the ground and scald your hands as well. I have seen this happen many times.
