Backpacker's Pantry knows that hiking works up quite an appetite. It also knows that sometimes you just want to add boiling water to a Lasagna pouch and sit for 13 minutes while a delicious meal of tomatoes, Parmesan cheese, vegetarian ground beef (meat substitute), and Italian seasonings makes itself.
    • Pour 2 1/4 cups (540ml) of boiling water into the pouch, stir well, seal, and let sit for 13 minutes, then stir and serve
    • Provides enough food for two backcountry travelers or one very hungry hiker
    • Takes up minimal space in your pack and adds minimal weight
    • Check tech specs for ingredients, allergens, and nutritional data

    So good!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

We brought a bunch of different freeze dried meals on our recent backpacking trip in escalate. This meal in particular was our favorite. It was so satisfying to wolf down some hot lasagne after an exhausting 10 mile hike. We will definitely buy this one again. Something to keep in mind when buying meals is the "serving size". We found that the meals containing two servings were almost enough for one person. The single serving size meals left us very hungry. I'm sure if you were using these car camping they would be enough. But if you are hiking long distance/burning a ton of calories, you'll want to eat 3 servings.

    Best of the Veggie Options

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

In my humble opinion, this is by far the best of the Backpacker's Pantry vegetarian offerings. 22g protein is tough to beat. It’s basically TVP, dried cheese, spices, and tomato sauce mixed into rotini noodles, and it’s perfectly delicious.

    Great for Vegetarians

My wife is vegetarian and so her Mountain House options are fairly limited. She (as well as I) absolutely loves this stuff. It has everything you need to keep you feeling good on the trail, but doesn't sacrifice taste. She likes them so much she's eaten them for breakfast at home! Weird, I know.

So good. The other day, I actually raided my backpacking supply so I could eat one of these for dinner. Cheesy goodness in a bag. Just make sure you mix it well, or you'll end up with crunch pasta where the noodles didn't get a chance to rehydrate.

    New Favorite

Can't agree more with the other reviewer - this by far the best dehydrated meal I have ever tried! Enjoyed this after a very long day of backpacking, and it was perfect. Easy to prepare, fully satisfying, and delicious. Great to find such a fabulous vegetarian option that really tastes great and reenergized two hungry hikers fully.

    Absorutery Derricious

This is probably the best dehydrated meal i have tried so far. It tastes just like normal lasagna. I was a little thrown off initially by the idea of lasagna in a bag, but it totally killed it. Definitely add this to your list of backpacking meals, you wont regret it!
