Here's what others have to say...

Really not good

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Tried to get a few miles in before breakfast the morning these were slated to be eaten and what a mistake. Took forever and was disgusting, partly because eggs have the texture of grits. Granted this was my first experience with dehydrated eggs but usually food with so much spice is at least bearable.

How much time do you have?

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

As delicious as the finished product is, I generally do not want to wait half an hour to make a freeze-dried meal. Directions dictate you must let the contents sit in hot water, then you must fry the subsequent orange paste afterwards.

May be a great product for the backcountry chefs out there, but not for those who enjoy a hot meal within 5 minutes.

As dehydrated eggs go...

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is one of the better dehydrated egg things I have had....taking into account that dehydrated eggs are horrible...

Not bad with hot sauce

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Know going into it that you are eating dehydrated eggs. That being said, it isn't bad. As a hungry hiker it does the trick in the morning.

Meh

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I wanted a protein heavy breakfast for our hike out so I got this. It wasn't terrible but next time I'll look for something else. I think based on other reviews you need to be prepared for the unique texture of dehydrated eggs. If you can get past that it's probably pretty good. For as much work as I had to put into making these, I'd prefer something better.

Mostly Food

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

For food that spends an extended period of time in a bag, this faux breakfast is pretty tasty. No complaints from a hungry backpacker. Always pair with cholula and salt packets.

I took one of these backpacking in the Swell last weekend. New discovery - add insta potatoes to this meal and you've got a complete breakfast!

Tough to swallow

When you're hungry you'll eat anything-except these! No flavor, even with added chili flakes, bad texture and consistency. You can mix, cook, and eat it in the same pan for ease and less cleanup.

More of an omelet?

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've had some killer Rancheros so personally I think of this one more as a mexican scramble or omelet. Not very different from the Denver omelet as far as quality. Its better with hot sauce. Don't forget a pan to cook in. This is not a eat from the bag type of meal.

Yummmmmmmmmm!

Spicy and delicious. I would definitely buy this again. Next time I'm bringing tortillas along so I can whip up some breakfast burritos.

Huevos Rancheros...

As far as dehydrated eggs are concerned I guess this wasn't bad. Personally I am not a huge fan of anything with dehydrated eggs since once they are reheated they have kind of a grainy texture. Overall this was pretty good but not sure if I would buy it again. Also just a heads up, this does require rehydrating with boiling water, then cooking in a pan, so it is a two step process as opposed to the normal pouring boiling water in a bag and being good to go.

Great Breakfast Recommendation

Very easy to prepare. Tasted surprisingly like real egg. Good overall flavor.
