Awesome Shirts

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Love this shirt, it streches, it breathes and it looks great. I bought this along with the Stoic Roam Short sleeve shirts and they are all the same stretchy material, same button style with 1 off color button (which helps when you mess up like me and get off a button every time you just match and go)

The only complaint I would have and this is more for the stoics than for this is that the hemming comes undone after a few washes. It not stitched hemming its more like double sided tape. The bottom of this shirt has it and since its the bottom hem you hardly notice, however if the short sleeve version is like my stoics then the sleeves will come undone and then it kinda looks tacky. Easily fixed with some hemming though.

Super Sweet Shirt

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

I gave this shirt as a gift. The shirt has a nice fit with room to move. I bought a M for a 165lb guy who always seems to be a M in shirts and a 32 in pants. Keeps a clean look, not wrinkly and versatile from what I've seen. Casual to somewhat dressy.

good one

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

As other reviews have noted, stoic and bc.com products have had somewhat of a hit and miss history. The newer line of bc.com gear seems to be a step up from the stoic gear. I bought this shirt to not look like such a bum during the summer when I moonlight as a fly fishing guide. I purchased the nickel/charcoal color and it kept me cool on the river all day. breathes pretty well and dried fast which is nice as the sleeves continually get wet during a day of fishing.

Fit is kind of standard if you are familiar with other stoic or backcountry.com shirts. slim and a little short in the length with long sleeves.

damn fine shirts

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: Runs small

Wasn't sure what to expect with these shirts. I find some of the backcountry/ former Stoic products hit and miss. This one is definitely a winner. nice stretchy material with a trim fit. Colors are nice. I really like the snap buttons on the front. It breathes reasonably well and holds up to washing without wrinkling. my only grip is making the zippered pocket a bit more subtle or using a flap to cover the zipper.

Great Fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I'm a bit over 6'5" and 210lbs and this shirt in large fits damn nice. Nearly the slim fit of a tailored shirt. The sleeves come down to my wrist which for a large is pretty uncommon. If you have a beer gut, maybe get the XL. Gonna order another once this is back on S&C!

Fits funny

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

I've always had a hard time with the fit on Backcountry.com products. I have short arms for my height (6' 1") and their sizing generally runs with long arms in relation to the torso length. On top of that, I've added a fine ring of sugar muscles around my belly and this shirt hangs in all the wrong places because of it. It's almost as if it were designed to make me look as fat as possible, and mind you, I'm only 185 lbs.

Other than that, I loved the material, which is why I originally wanted to try this one out. Seemed soft and cool and I could imagine it being particularly nice on a cool summer evening. But because of the strange fit I returned it.

Normally I'll go with a Medium or Small depending on the fit. I tried out both on this shirt and the Medium nearly swallowed my hands the sleeves were so long and the Small made me look like your creepy uncle. I'm going to say it tends to run small based on the torso length.

Nice Shirt

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a nice, comfortable, breathable, stretchy shirt. I am 6'0", 180 lbs, with 40" chest. I'm an "in-betweener" on a lot of tops. With this shirt, the large fit ok, but was a little baggier than I'd like. Arms were very (too) long. The medium fits more closely in the body and arm length is perfect. I much prefer the fit of the medium. However, if your chest is larger than 40", use caution with ordering the medium.

Provo Shirt vs. Skyline Shirt

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Backcountry.com Provo Shirt vs. Arc'teryx Skyline Shirt

I was interested in a Provo Shirt as a direct replacement of an Arc'teryx Skyline Shirt. The latter seems to be always out of stock in my size, S.
Sleeves: The Provo Shirt sleeves are longer . They are also looser at the wrist.
Waist: The Arc'teryx Skyline Shirts have more room around the waist.
Snaps: The Provo Shirts use nylon snaps while Skyline Shirts use metal snaps. The Provo Shirts snaps are easier to put on and off even when new. The Skyline Shirts use tight snaps -- may be too tight when new.
Material: The Provo Shirt material seems have more substance. The Skyline Shirts feels suppler.
I would say the Nickel/Charcoal color is darker in reality than what I saw on my screen.

Style and Comfort

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

This thing is awesome! The material is obviously the coolest part, as others have attested to. It definitely wont wrinkle easy, which is good because, well, I don't even own an iron.

I also love the zipper pocket on the chest. Overall this thing is awesome, can't wait to wear it more!

Dressy enough for a casual wedding

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I love the feel of this shirt. Soft, supple, and breathable. It's great to travel/fly with since it doesn't wrinkle. I'm 6'2" 178lbs and the Large works for me!

Roll the sleves

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

Great all around shirt. I got it in grey, and it had a bit of a shine to it, something that I was not expecting. The only thing that was disappointing was the sleeves. I am someone who constantly rolls up the sleeves on long sleeved collared shirts. Because of the material, its not great for rolling up the sleeves. But heck, just wear the sleeves down and enjoy a great shirt. Athletic fit is great without clinging to every inch of your body.

Cool Shirt

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have gotten a few of these for my favorite guys in my life. This is perfect for travel as it doesn't wrinkle easily and can work as athletic-casual-and also more dressy. The look is nice but the fabric is comfortable and performs well. The zipppered pocket is perfect for your cash and ID for a night out, all of the great colors means you can have more than just one. Love it.

Great Fit

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Over the years I have warn Patagonia, Carhart, Kavu, Royal Robbins, and Mountain Kakis button down long-sleeves for work. This is by far the best fitting shirt -- I am 6'0" 175 LBS with longer arms and went with a large. The fabric is light so you are comfy in the summer, and the sleeves are the perfect length. The Backcounty.com price is nice too ($69), especially when you can easily spend at least $100 on a shirt of similar material and fit.

Is this shirt quick drying?

Responded on

Being mostly polyester this should dry pretty quickly and keep you cool while it does.

Responded on

Its actually got a DWR coating on it. Sheds water and also helps it dry faster.
