    Heavy-duty wool for hardcore hermanas.

You've been up to your neck in dirt, sweat, and general desert badassery all week long, so the one t-shirt you brought on your trip is looking pretty beaten down (and smelling like your little brother's gym locker). Good thing you stashed the Immersion Bonded Wool Women's Jacket at camp, so you've got something soft, warm, and hole-free to wear when you're splitting wood, building fires, and whipping up whiskey drinks while your lazy partners are snoozing.

Your hands, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, and every other body part might be raw and bloody from days of fingerlocks, hand jams, and off-width endurance sessions, but the soft wool blend and bonded fleece lining of the Immersion are the closest thing you'll find to a low-key full-body backcountry massage. The Immersion's not just soft, either—it has a heavyweight design and three-panel hood that will keep you warm when you're sitting by the dying embers of your campfire, swapping scar stories and savoring the last of your hot toddy. If a few drops fall, the DWR treatment will keep you dry (and if the heavens really open up, embrace it, because who knows when your next shower will come along?)

    Great Jacket

    • Familiarity:I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit:Runs small
    • Size Bought: Extra Large

I bought this jacket as a gift and from what the person I gave it to has to say is that it is a beautiful and warm jacket yet the size runs a little small. I originally got a Large but had to return it and get an XL instead. Other than that its a great lite weight jacket that will still keep you warm without trying to melt you.

    Great Jacket

    • Familiarity:I've used it several times

Overall, this is a great jacket for late fall and winter. I really like the fact that it's wool and wind resistant. It looks nicer than your average fleece, and it's lightweight but surprisingly warm. I wore it hiking in central Pennsylvania in December with a sweater underneath, and I was comfortable the whole time. I haven't worn it in the rain yet so I don't know how the DWR treatment performs. The hood is a good size and I like the cut around the neckline. It's wide enough to accommodate a scarf, but high enough to somewhat protect your face and neck if you don't have one.

That being said, there are a few things about this jacket that keep me from giving it 5 stars. As most other reviewers have mentioned, the fit is a bit off. I'm 5'2"and 120 lbs, and I originally ordered a small, which is my standard size. It fit in the shoulders and arms, but it was way too small in the torso and hips. I exchanged it for a medium, which does fit better, but is still smaller than I would prefer in the torso and hips. The length of this jacket is perfect for me (it falls just below my hips) but that is offset by the fact that it is snug. I decided to keep the jacket because it does have some stretch to it and I'm hoping it will fit better as I break it in. My only other complaint about this jacket is that the pockets are small.

If Backcountry were to redo the design of this jacket to include larger pockets and a wider cut in the torso and hips (or offered a petite size with a shorter torso), I would absolutely buy it again.

Nice looking, but poor fit for me...

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
    • Fit:Runs large

This is a really nice looking jacket, but I found the fit a little odd. It was too big through the shoulders, the sleeves were way too long, and yet it was too small in the hip area. If you have broad shoulders and smaller hips, this might work for you. If you have narrow shoulders and slightly bigger hip measurement than chest, don't bother.

    Nice Lining

    • Familiarity:I returned this product before using it
    • Fit:Runs small

This jacket has a great lining that gives you quite a bit of protection from the wind, and I really liked the lining combined with the wool. Also, the color is sleek, and the goat logo is very small an unobtrusive. However, I returned it. The wool material is rough, since it's not Merino, and the fit ON ME wasn't spectacular.

Thin and Hearty, and super warm!

I really love this jacket because, as the description says. it is "heavy duty wool" but it isn't bulky and huge. It's thinnish and warm and comfortable! The perfect "comfort hoody" which adds a little classiness to your look no matter if you're wearing jeans or pajama pants.

I am a short person (pushing 5'1") and I find that it is a bit long. I don't like things tight, so I ordered a medium, but I probably should have gone with the small.

      Warm with Stretch

      • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit:True to size

Where else can you find a warm, windproof, stretch-laminate, wool bonded softshell jacket at this price?! The fit is great too- nice and slim, and pretty long. I'm 6' and it hits me below the hip. It's also really warm and soft on the inside. I've worn this casually, hiking, climbing, for softball, in light rain, working in the yard... basically it's good for everything. The cut is a little roomier in the shoulder and upper chest so it's easy to move around without the jacket hiking up. And I love the tiny little goat logo on the chest! Everyone asks where I got it, and I just point to the goat :)

      Great Everyday piece

      • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit:True to size

I have been wearing this for a few months now and love it. It plays its part in keeping me warm without being a bulky jacket. You can wear it out on the town or for a quick hike with the dogs. Its been great on windy days as well since it has a laminate sandwiched in for better wind protection. Its got a good cut, not too slim cut and ample length for those with longer arms. I am 6 ft about 190 and got the XL. Fit me great. Enough pockets to lose your stuff in. Overall I love it!

I am 5'11"and 145 lbs. Would you recommend a medium or a large? I have long arms.

I usually wear a medium in everything but the medium in this is prettttttttty snug! If you are looking for a slim fit, I'd go with your normal size. But if you want a little room, I would size up! The sleeves are roomy and long, so I wouldn't worry about that either way.

I noticed this is an outlet item. Was it ever available in xsmall? I am wondering because I'm trying to guess sizing on the small. I am 5'2" and 110 lbs. I would like it to be fitted but by no means tight. I want to be able to wear a hoodie or thick sweater underneath. Thanks!

Surprisingly we did not offer this in an XS size. If you are looking to layer underneath this hoodie I would recommend getting a small so that you have enough room for the layers underneath so they will not constrict your movement of your arms.

What fiber(s) is the wool blended with?...

What fiber(s) is the wool blended with? And what is the percentage of wool in the fabric? And is the lining a typical 100% polyester fleece? Thanks
