Traction for demanding tours.
The Backcountry High Traction Splitboard Skins offers roughly 10 to 20% more traction than G3's standard Alpinist splitboard skins. Inspired our signature Goat logo, these high-traction skins serve up the billy goat-like grip desired for alpine ascents on two halves of a snowboard. This extra traction allows you to climb up steeper, more direct routes, even on hardpack snow. That way you're spending less time skinning and more time slashing powder, which is something we can all agree with. G3 added in a self-aligning tip attachment that's low-profile, so it's not catching on hardpack surfaces and loose snow, as well as a twin-tip tail attachment for an ultra-secure, stay-put fit. Plus, the solvent-free adhesive—which G3 claims is the toughest on the market— won't pollute the snow or mess up your freshly waxed base.

- Q & A
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
So far only four days on these bad boys, but they work really well. I like the high traction better than the normal skins for long days and steep approaches, and these hold their own. The one complaint is that their glue is not to the standards of other skins, so I just re-glued them with BD skin glue, and now they are the best skins I have ever use. If you're in the market for some solid skins you won't find a better pair for the price.
ALSO! If you ride a 158 do NOT buy the smalls, you will want the mediums; no question about it. The smalls are far too short for a 158.
Will these skins hook to a splitboard with a fish tail?
Does it comes with skins savers?
Hi Oliver, These skins do not come with skin savers. If you have any other questions, please let me know directly and I'll get you taken care of. - Matthew Pizza - Expert Gearhead
I have a couple year old pair of BC Skins, they're smalls, they do not provide nearly enough coverage for a 158 board. The small states up to 159 and a medium starting at 159; but I do not want the same issue I have now...
Is the medium on these going to be too long?
The sizing between these skins and the ones you already own will be the same, so based on the information you provided you should size up and go with the Medium. If you want to call in, I can set that order up for you with free shipping. These skins will come with a trim tool.
If you have any other questions about these skins or any other gear, give me a shout. My email is email@example.com and my direct line is 801-204-4694 ext 2451.
