Description

Solid midweight fleece that reduces the wind chill while skiing and hiking.

Not your average fraternity-sponsored fleece, the Backcountry.com Breaker Fleece Hooded Jacket helps take the edge off the wind while you're hiking, running, or skinning to a powder stash. Plus, with the Goat logo you can show off your favorite gear hook-up to all the traffic on the trail.
  • Polyester Polartec Wind Pro fabric uses a hard outer face to resist the bite of chilly winds
  • Softer inner fleece dries quickly, breathes, and encourages moisture wicking while you run trails or tour around the canyon
  • Close fit matches your body frame and allows lots of mobility while easily sliding into a winter shell or rain jacket
  • Adjustable hood and hem let you seal yourself off from the winds as they intensify throughout the day
  • Internal zip chest pocket holds a cell phone or MP3 player so you can pipe your headphones to your ears
  • Two front zippered pockets provide shelter for you fingers when things get chilly in town

Awesome Fleece!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

Stoked on this fleece for sure. Its an athletic/standard fit (not overly tight) and gets the job done! This will be getting some serious use in the future.

Wowo.

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

This is a great jacket. It's lightweight, flexible, and warm; perfect for wearing on chilly days and would pair wonderfully with a shell. The outside is a stretchy and thick windproof material and the inside is akin to a fleece blanket. Super comfortable.

The collar is high, allowing you to protect your neck from chilling winds and has the goat embroidered on the side of it. On the other side inside of the zipper is a flap with the reflective goat and brand name that is visible when the jacket isn't zipped up all the way, allowing the brand to be seen from either side. There's also a goat and brand name embroidered on the side booty area. One of the pictures showing the hem's embroidery seems to illustrate that the hem is staggered with one side being longer than the other. This isn't true with my jacket and is the same length all around.

It fits well and contours very nicely. If you're in between sizes, I'd size up, otherwise I'd say it's true to size. The sleeves are long enough to cover a long-armed dude's wrists or part of the upper hands of a shorter to average length arm. The circumference of the body is comfortable and not too snug but consistently feels like you're bundled in a blanket.

The hood and waist/hem are adjustable, the pockets have zippers, and there's also an internal zippered chest pocket fit for a phone as mentioned in the description. One small, commonly overlooked but very appreciated detail is that the pockets extend beyond the bottoms of the zippers. Another jacket of mine has pockets that end where the zipper ends so my wallet and things constantly fall out when I sit if I have the zippers all the way down. Not a problem with this jacket.

Definitely my new go-to.

Great softshell!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

Bought one for my dad, and he excitedly informed me that he promptly got rid of his other branded softshell and loves this one. It's warm enough for him to use year round with a couple of layers especially because it keeps out moisture and wind. The sleeves are great, because often his wrists are left exposed in other outerwear, but these are a little longer and do cover his wrists. Finally, my dad's a tall lanky guy, and the design is loose enough for movement, but still trim so not too "baggy."

How does the sleeve length run, and are there thumb holes in this jacket. Looking for a replacement for my Backcountry.com Siphon Street Full-Zip, and I really like the long sleeves and thumb holes of the Siphon.

Responded on

Sleeve are pretty good length on this guy. I have a 6'1"+ wingspan and my medium is always comfortably around my wrists. There are no thumb holes on this baby, though I wish there were!

I get one of these for my Dad every year, he loves it and lives in it. It's comfortable, stylish and very versatile . I am glad to see the Goat brand back on there too! I wish we had this simple black one in women's!

Any chance these will a) be available in other colors, and b) might go on sale before this lap around the sun finishes?

Responded on

Hey,

I do not see any other colors coming in anytime soon. As far as a sale goes, that is entirely possible. We also do a 30-day price match guarantee. So, if we do put this on sale in the next 30 days, we'll refund you the difference.

I'm a jacket slut.

The newest entry in my jacket collection. I've worn it almost everyday for the last two weeks. It's warm but on cold days I still throw a shell over this. Overall it's warm and wind resistant in a nice slim fit that looks good.
Note: the backcountry.com logo is reflective.

Great fleece!

I bought this for my husband, and it's become his go-to jacket. It's a great quality, lightweight, super soft, and warmer than it looks. He's worn and washed it several times now, and it's holding up great! This jacket absolutely competes with other big-name brands.

Could you tell me where this piece is made?

Good question. They previously had a couple of versions, one was made with wool and it was made in Canada - the other was 90/10 polyester/wool and made in China. Wish they had some US or Canadian made products.

Any difference between this and the stoic breaker fleece?

Responded on

This fleece is pretty much the same as the Stoic yanp43062, this one just has the Backcountry.com logo.

I love this fleece, and would recommend to anyone. Easily comparable (could even surpass) to any TNF you would be looking into.

I am between a medium and large at eddie bauer, straight medium carhart. What size should i get?

This jacket runs a bit smallish and is fitted. I think I would grab a Large. You could probably stick to the fit guide and get really close, too. You can always return if you aren't happy with the fit - BC is good about that.
