    Goat-worthy.

The lightweight and burly Backcountry 320 Probe is your ticket to quick search and recovery when every second counts. It's made from durable 7001-T6 aluminum tubing and deploys with a single pull of a cable. Speed cone technology allows for quick assembly and increased cable durability. There are five-millimeter incremental markings along the probe for fast assessment of depth or length. And so you know this probe is strong and smart, it has a Backcountry.com goat on it.

    Seems a little iffy

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The Backcountry probe has a quick set up and is definitely large enough. It may have some issues fitting in smaller backpacks because of it's long packed size, as stated in another review. My initial concern is that it seems to come apart really easily. Maybe I haven't figured out how to lock it down tight, but it seems a little flimsy compared to my previous black diamond probe. Worried it will disconnect at a joint when I need it the most.

Only time will tell as I haven't had a chance to use it much in real conditions. Will update if I am proven wrong. Not my favorite so far.

Seems like it would be a great probe but

Got the probe as a gift for Christmas and as I proceeded test it out and extend it one of the ends of the segments cracked. I was very disappointed for I had only assembled it to full length a couple of times and it had already broken. Aside from the cracked segment the probe appears to be a good piece of equipment. However, its discerning that it may break again while in use for an actual emergency.

Seems like it would be a great probe but

    Great probe, longer than expected.

Great, light probe that I've deployed numerous times without any issue and it locks up tight. Just FYI, the actual packed up length is 20.75" (52.5cm). It does have some problems fitting into both my Dakine Heli Pro Dlx and Pro II packs.
