The Backcountry Access Tracker DTS Tour Package includes all the gear you need to travel safely through the backcountry without weighing you down. The Tracker DTS reigns as the world’s best-selling avalanche beacon thanks to its ease of use and rugged durability. Its digital display indicates both direction and distance to the victim and boasts and effective range of 50 meters. The Carbon 260 probe remains BCA’s longest at a full 8 feet 6 inches, but weighs just 7.3 ounces thanks to its carbon fiber construction and assembles in mere seconds. The Tour Shovel has an oval shaft and T-grip handle that provide durability and comfort.

Bottom Line: Travel light, travel safe.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

if you go backcountry, you need these 3 items. Simple as that.

The beacon is easy to use (never used it in anger). Read the instructions and practise, practise, practise.

The shovel collapses into 2 pieces, is ok for building kickers and is nice and lightweight. If you are using it all the time maybe consider a higher spec model.

The probe is lightweight and folds up well. I had it on the outside of my pack and over time the spike on the probe cut a hole in the bag. Just something to be aware of rather than a criticism.

Such a bomb deal

I am going to be snowboarding at bridger bowl this year, where they require avalanche beacons for some new terrain they have. This package is perfect for me, it is compact enough for the lift and easy enough to lend to my friends if i take a day off.

Will this help locate youself in the case that you become trapped

Will this help locate youself in the case that you become trapped in an avalanche? Or is it simply for finding others?

thus, a partner is also "required equipment" when in the backcountry.

The beacon will help you track others that are buried, and help them locate you if you're buried. Never go into avalanche terrain without it, and really take the time to learn how to use it effectively. Same goes for the shovel and probe. The tools will only do their job as long as the person using them knows how to do theirs.

3 stars, adequate for the job.
I love it all, very light weight. BUT, the shovel is not extend-able, as it is described... And the tour shovel is made for little people in its non-extend-able version (that I didn't even know existed...) And I'm short. Backcountry apologized and refunded me a small amount of cash which was cool, but I'm still stuck with a mini shovel...
Nonetheless, the probe is awesome and the tracker is unbeatable in its user friendliness.

Since my purchase I've been hoping there was such a thing available... Where can I find that? There's nothing on BSA'a website.

In the UK this gear would have set me back around $500. Not the kind of purchase I usually make whilst on holiday at Disney, Florida... but hey, it was worth it! I purchased this together with the Black Diamond Covert with Avalung pack and all together it makes an excellent package! Super light and snugly stored away on ya back!
