    Very quick!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Bought this for an avalanche 1 training course and have used it ever since in the backcountry. It is extremely quick. Just fling out while holding the end, pull the latch and start probing. Make sure to practice before heading out into the backcountry... it's not as intuitive as you would think and you need to know what it feels like to hit an object (or person) with your probe.

great probe - but measure your pack

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

This is a great probe. Easy and fast to put together. Marked for depth.

Only caveat? Like it says in the Tech specs - the packed length is 50 cm, whereas the Stealth 270 packed length is 45 cm, and the Stealth 240 is 40 cm.

In my older Mammut Nivrana 35 pack, the tool pocket isn't big enough to fit the Stealth 300 so I returned it and got the Stealth 270 which is still fast to open and marked for depth AND fits in the pocket.

    The Only Probe You Need

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Putting together this probe is so easy. You just pull the top pull cord and it's ready to go. You will never buy another probe again. The most important part of an avalanche rescue pack is being fast with putting your equipment together. Get this!

    Smooth and Fast

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This probe is great--super smooth and fast deployment, and the locking mechanism is extremely easy and quick to lock it all together.

The depth measurements are laser-etched so they shouldn't scratch off--a plus for me since I use it to measure snowpits as well.

It barely fits in the probe sleeve of my Osprey Kode 38 pack.

The case it comes in has a zipper instead of a flap, a minor downside for opening it quickly with gloves on, but I tied an extra cord onto the zipper and I can now open it without any problems

I have only used it a handful of times, and have noticed the plastic coating on the wire is abrading a bit, but the stainless wire inside is still perfectly intact--I will just have to inspect it every year to ensure it is still strong.

    Quick setup

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Themechanism on this probe is sweet, the pull system totighten it up is solid huge upgrade from the wire on the past models this still uses a wire through the entire probe but the engagingmechanism is a rod like system. really quick!!!!

    Awesome big probe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Barely fits in my bandit avalung pack (a real stretch on the old version) but the quick deployment and bigger tubing is worth it. Hasn't broken yet and I've tried, so I trust it to help find someone in a hopefully calm but knowingly frantic situation. The 300 is a must for places with deep packs like the sierra and cascades.

    Great Probe

The ease of use that BCA has created with this probe is top notch. After struggling with an older, more inefficient probe for a few days this year, I made the switch to the BCA Stealth 300 Probe. I am stoked on the deployment mech. on this bad boy, super easy and secure. The 300 was a little long to fit into my pack, so I switched tot he 270 (blue) length. If the 300cm fits in your pack, use it, if not check out the 270cm.

      Great Probe

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The Stealth 300 is a great probe. Pops out nice and quick so you can check underneath the snow. Closes nice and easy and stows up in its bag. Little to big for my BCA Stash from a few years ago. All in all: great probe!

      Fastest probe I've used

      • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

This is definitely the fastest deploying probe I've used. It has fewer segments than the BD I'm switching to, so it doesn't fit in any of my avy packs. Faster to deploy, but I can't put it in an easy to access area of my pack, so the speed is lost in digging for my probe/

      Lightning Fast

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

In a situation where every second counts the Stealth series of probes from BCA deliver. I first got to try out this probe last January and was shocked by the quick clean action made possible by solid pull cap. No more sloppy cables means no more hang ups. I was able to deploy and lock the stealth before it even hit the ground on my first try!

I went with the 300 because I guide a bit, teach avi courses, and often travel to areas known for there deep snow pack.

Will this fit in the BCA FLoat 32 pack?
