It may not look like much to you at first, but the Backcountry Access Slope Meter packs quite a punch. When you're in the backcountry, bust out this handy-dandy slope meter, align the bottom edge of the meter with the slope, and read the angle. Backcountry Access used yellow, orange, and red tabs to code slopes with the most avalanche potential so you have an extra little warning when the pow looks perfect but the slope is in the red zone. Oh ... it also can be read from the side and above, and it doubles as a ski base scraper.
Bottom Line: Red means danger.

Research out-of-stock versions:
how could it *not* break?
Saw these on a shelf at a bricks & mortar store... several of them were broken. The design is really silly as nothing protects the tube that holds more...
Defective product
Basically I received a slope meter that had tiny cracks in 2 different spots of the plastic tube. It was very hard to see but renders the slope meter useless more...
