    Crush the mush.

Ideally, skate races would only take place on firm, fast snow, but ideally we'd also all eat lollipops for lunch and live far away from neighbors with horrible mewling cats. Face up to soft-snow reality with the Atomic World Cup Skate FL Soft Track Ski, specially designed with short contact points and higher camber to keep you skating hard when conditions get soft.

Since top-level racers put enormous amounts of energy into their skis, they require something stiff that will convert that energy into performance rather than wasting it in unnecessary torsional flex and flop. The FL Soft Track has a Featherlight core that sandwiches a superlight and strong Nomex honeycomb between acrylic Densolite sidewalls, creating a ski with exceptional torsional rigidity and a seriously light weight that is capable of maximizing all the energy you can put into it. To truly make the most of your hard work, Atomic also gave the Soft Track a lightning-quick 50000-index base, the fastest it makes.

Since skis behave differently in different snow conditions (surprise!), the FL Soft Track is optimized for softer snow with a slightly larger sidecut than its hard-track brother, which helps to keep it moving in the direction of your forward momentum when sinking into mushy snow, rather than running out to the side if it spends slightly more time on edge. Shorter contact points towards the tip and tail keep you gliding smoothly without sticking unnecessarily, and a slightly higher camber stops you from getting bogged down while raising the tip of the ski when flexed for smooth ride. When you un-weight the ski to bring it back under your body, the camber snaps back, providing power and lowering the tip for an easier and catch-free return.

    Great skate skis

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Atomic (same factory setup as Salomon for most nordic skis) makes a good combo for both a lively and flexible ski for a not so chattery ride. Just make sure to nail the fit. Perfect for spring skiing and global warming.
