The positive base pattern actually lies above the metal edges of this Atomic ski. A light High Densolite core saves your leg muscles, and the sidecut makes for fun, controlled turns on moderate downhill rides.

Are there similar ina wax ski? everything seems to be waxless

not from Atomic or most other companies in the US. At this width most people want the waxless (more versatile, no messing with hitting the right wax). When you drop to a 59-62mm tip, then you see more waxable options in the states.

Today was my first time on the Sierras. I had great success with them on the trail and in the sticks where the snow wasn't so wind blown. A little bit of trouble on the blown over, iced up, crusted snow pack, oh yah, with a couple feet of sugar underneath. To be expected I guess. Overall great ski.
